On a night where there was speed to be found in multiple grooves around Bakersfield Speedway, it was the bottom that proved to be a winner for Clay Daly during the Late Model feature race on Saturday night.

Sticking to the low line almost exclusively, Daly won the 30-lap Late Model feature, passing Mike Corwin with 2 laps left to get the win on the third-mile Clay oval.

Defending national champions Anthony Moronez and Daniel Richardson of Bakersfield won three events apiece Saturday at an AAU track and field Junior Olympics national qualifier meet in Tulare, and can to try to defend their titles at this year's national championships next month in Houston.

Moronez, 14, who competes for the Bakersfield Roadrunner Track Club, won the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 30 seconds. He was last year's national champ in the 1,500.
